  • Roads and Traffic Customization and Configuration; City of Buenos Aires, ARGENTINA
GeoSolutions Consulting Inc. was selected to develop municipal applications for the City of Buenos Aires. Shortly after we began work on the functional requirements, SHL Systemhouse released the first version of their Municipal Application Partnership suite (now known as Autodesk MAP). Upon review of the software and unique requirements at the City, MAP was selected for the initial suite of applications. Because the MAP data model had been developed for Canadian municipal requirements and the application was only available in English, it was necessary to customize the application code and modify and data model, in addition to the normal configuration tasks. Through this project we gained extensive in-depth experience with VISION* and the MAP product, the supporting data model and configuration issues.

  • Water Quality of the Rideau and Ottawa Rivers; Regional Municipality of Ottawa-Carleton (RMOC)
Mapping and geographical analysis of water sample data collected from streams, rivers and drainage outlets within the Ottawa and Rideau River drainage basins. Final maps were used in the annual report on water quality.

  • Eastern Ontario Watershed Study (United Counties of Prescott-Russell, United Counties of Stormont, Dundas and Glengary)
GeoSolutions Consulting Inc. provided GIS data compilation and spatial data analysis for a study on water resources for eastern Ontario. This Eastern Ontario Water Resource Management Study (EOWRMS) has developed a comprehensive information base on surface and groundwater resources and the tools to both protect and enhance the quality and quantity of water resources. CH2M Gore & Storrie Ltd. was the contract lead.

  • Analysis of Decision Support Systems (DSS) for Watershed Management; Regional Municipality of Ottawa-Carleton (RMOC)
GIS tools were used to model biological data, terrestrial characteristics and related parameters affecting the water quality of the Rideau River in the Regional Municipality of Ottawa-Carleton.

  • Municipal Facilities Site Selection: City of Gloucester
Site suitability models were developed to identify preferred locations for new municipal garage facilities. The SPANS GIS system was used to execute a site suitability model using parameters extracted from environmental, physical, zoning and cadastral mapping. Robinson Consultants was the contract lead.

  • Water Quality Modelling of the Rideau River; Regional Municipality of Ottawa-Carleton (RMOC)
Constructed a detailed DEM of the bathymetry of Mooney's Bay from 1 m interval soundings. Water quality data was modelled and displayed using the 3-D physical modelling software (Intergraph Voxel Analyst). This project demonstrated the visual effectiveness of using 3-D models for depicting dispersion patterns in the water body. Final results were presented at the 1996 GIS Conference in Ottawa.

  • Emergency Services (E-911) System Architecture Study
This study examined the data and application requirements of emergency services in the Regional Municipality of Ottawa-Carleton. Business modelling workshops were conducted to identify the service activities of each organisation and the data required to support these services. A data architecture model was developed to normalise the data subjects and group the data into logical data classes. The project identified the requirement for spatial information within each emergency service (i.e., police, fire and ambulance) and proposed technology based application solutions. (Work was performed by current GeoSolutions staff while employed at Robinson Consulting).
