National Capital Commisson (NCC)- Established a relational database of bore hole data logs and test pit data. Data is extracted and processed to generate 3D models of contaminants and lithological structure. Material and volume calculations were generated along with detailed 3D visual illustrations of the models.
Geological Survey of Canada - 3D Modelling and Visualisation of Landslides and Glacial Events
The Geological Survey of Canada (GSC) asked GeoSolutions Consulting to conduct GIS computer modelling for the Climate Change and Catastrophic Processes study of Canadian landslides and geological hazards. GIS three dimensional(3D) computer modelling and rendering are powerful tools that can help GSC scientists to better understand the full extent and impact of these massive events.
Environment Canada (Flood Simulation)
Hydrological data from a 1-D model was input into a GIS and combined with a Digital Elevation Model (DEM) to determine flood levels at time intervals. Using GIS analysis tools, the extent of flooding was determined for each time interval and the results were presented using a 3-D animation. The GIS analysis and data preparation were performed using MapInfo with Vertical Mapper and SPANS. (1997)
